For some people, it is their dream to become a professional hairstylist. No matter if you are just starting in the job industry (you’ve just finished your GCSE’s) or you are fancying a career change, becoming a hair stylist is possible for you.
So, today we are going to discuss with you how you can easily become a professional hairstylist in the UK.
When you decide you want to become a professional hairstylist, there are a few different routes you can take. The one you decide is completely up to you and what will fit with your life schedule. But here are the two most common ways to become a hairstylist.
Firstly, you can look into completing an apprenticeship at your local hair salon. This means you will be training on the job, and getting paid to do so. You will be learning all of the skills whilst you are working for the salon. It may take you more time as you will need to learn the skills and build up the confidence to gain repeated clients. But it is a good way to gain experience in the working environment.
Another option is to go to college and study Hair Dressing as a course. This will allow you to gain a qualification that will help you to gain employment after your education is over. Some people will need to pay for these courses and it can take up a lot of your time. But you will be able to work alongside this on a wage that is higher than the apprentice pay.
These are just two of the most common ways that you can become a hairstylist in the UK. Both are just as good as each other and it is important to note you may be required to attend college whilst completing your apprentice course.
