The Long front and Short Back Hair trend for Men

Mens hairstyles have certainly changed a lot over the years, and now we’re at the stage of the long front and short back. This is a style that tends to include a swept fringe, and a buzzed back and sides. The style has various variations though, and many people will sport a quiff, or have a side parting.

The look can be extremely easy to maintain, and it will only require a bit of hair styling gel or wax to style your fringe to its desired position, while the back and sides needs no maintenance whatsoever.

The long front and short back hair style is still seen as a rather traditional style, yet the wide range of variation can be seen pretty much everywhere; the shops, high streets and in the workplace. This style is certainly not going to be going away any time soon, and if you’re a guy who’s looking to keep up with the latest trends then this could just be the style for you.

Maintaining Your Hair Colour

You’ve spent time and money visiting a hair salon to achieve your perfect hair colour. It looks glossy, shiny and vibrant, but even after the first wash it starts to look faded. How should you look after your hair colour to make it last as long as possible?

Most importantly, limit the amount of heat styling equipment which you expose your hair to. When you do use heat, ensure you put a good quality protection spray onto the hair beforehand. You can also use styling products before blow drying to make the hair easier to style – the less time you have to spend styling it, the better. Limit straightener usage to twice a week. This will help prevent the heat from the appliance fading your hair colour, but it will also mean that you hair is in better condition, helping it to hold colour better. This is especially true of the ends, which are prone to damage, dryness and fading.

The other easy way to maintain your hair colour is to ensure that you use high quality products on it. Shampoo and conditioner are especially important, because cheap versions will essentially strip the hair, taking your colour with it. There are all kinds of different product ranges out there, so pick one which is high quality and works well with your colour. Sulphate-free products are the best, as it’s the sulphates which will cause your colour to fade. Many brands offer specific shampoos and conditioners to maintain colour which will be sulphate free. They might cost more, but the investment will be worthwhile and it will keep your colour looking fresh.

Get the Festival Look

The festival look is back this summer, and styles include beachy waves, boho braids and fishtail plaits, while pastel shades add a hint of punk to the style. With beachy waves, you’re pretty much good to go for a festival or a beach party, and if you’re fortunate enough to have luscious waves, then go natural and let your hair do it’s thing!

Boho braids are very much IN right now, and these braids are quick and easy to create, and it helps you look as though you’ve made an effort, even though you really haven’t. Fishtail plaits were here last summer and they’re back again. They hold well when the plait has been created correctly, and they work best on long hair (preferably past the shoulders). The plait is easy to do when you’ve had some practice, and it can look great if you have a dip dye colour.

From Long to Short

Going from long hair to short hair can be a very big change, and it’s difficult to know how you’re going to look or feel until the cut has been completed. It’s important to make sure you’re fully prepared for such a change; otherwise you could be in for a big surprise.

If you haven’t’ had short hair for many years, it can be easy to get bored of your long locks, but you may grow tired of short hair quickly and then there’s no turning back. You could possibly put extensions in but that’s not going to be the same as having long hair, and it could take years for your hair to grow back fully.

You may get a mixed reaction from friends and family too, but remember the most important thing is how YOU feel. If you think you’re going to feel confident and happier with short hair then go ahead, just make sure you’ve really thought your decision through.

Hair Gel, Hair Wax Or Hair Spray?

Hair gel, wax and spray. They are all supposed to make your hair look good, but how exactly? Sometimes each can be used in different ways and for different purposes. Here are some tips on each hair product.

Hair gel is used mostly to create a style. Gel is best used as a kind of mould to make your hair do stylish things. Gel tends to look quite sticky and messy if not used skilfully, so get practicing!

Hair wax, similar to gel, is usually used to shape your hair. Wax tends to have a stronger hold than gel though which is great for those who have longer hair. It leaves less of a shine than hair gel, giving a more natural look if rubbed in well.

Hair spray is used to keep a hairstyle in place. After you are done shaping your hair however you want, hairspray acts like the cement to hold it together.
