Why 2014 is all about Wave Hair Styles

There are many different types of hairstyles becoming popular in 2014, and for women, the majority of are wavy. Wave hair can be quite a natural look, and it can be rather natural. There will always be a temptation to use the straighteners, but you may well be more in trend if you resist and show of your waves.

For those who have particularly straight hair, then finger curls can give your hair that wave look, while many people are opting to use hair sprays and mousses, but the hair may then look less natural and it will perhaps be a bit too overworked.

2014 could be the year where those with natural wavy hair prospers, and make sure you don’t hid your waves, because it is rapidly becoming one of the most popular hair styles, especially with relaxed, loose waves.

The quiff style for men

Mens hair trends move as often as women’s, but one of the most prominent today is the quiff. Many men are sporting quiffs of different lengths, and it’s certainly one of the most popular looks today.

Quiffs can suit long hair and short, hair, and it was a popular in the 1950s and it’s certainly back with a bang now in 2014. The style has always popped in and out of fashion, and it’s a look that will always work for different types of hair.

Quiffs can work well with a short back and sides, and many people are opting for this look, and it only takes a quick look around in the streets when you’re out shopping to see just how popular this look is again.

Short Pointy Hair is Back

We haven’t seen really short and pointy hair since the time of LuLu when it was the biggest trend going. If you like sporting short hair, then this could just be the style for you. When we talk about short pointy hair, we tend to relate to hair that is really short, perhaps even buzzed on the back and sides, with a spiky style, perhaps s a fringe that’s styled with products to look sharp and separated.

It’s great to see an old style returning, and it’s one that can be really suitable if you want short hair and you don’t necessarily want to sport a bob. There’s no doubt that styles can be limited for woman with short hair and this is certainly a possibility that’s going to grow in popularity throughout 2014.

Remember to opt for a strong holding style product such as a strong wax or mousse, while the look can be finished off with hairspray for an extra strong hold.

Ditching Blonde for Brunette

Blonde hair is common, and popular, but we may just see people ditching their blonde locks for brunette. Britney spears was one of the first this year to change her look with from blonde to brown, and may just prompt others to follow in her footsteps.

Kim Kardashian has also gone in the same direction, and it’s looking like a popular trend in the early part of 2014. It must be said that people will always suit a colour close to their natural colour and if you’re naturally bright blonde, then the brunette look may not suit you as much as you’d hope.

Blonde hair can easily be died brown, and off the shelf dies can probably even do the job, but to get the hair back to blonde you’ll need to use bleach and this is not healthy for your hair if you regularly die. The choice is yours but the trend is certainly there for brunette hair, and if you think it can work for you then go for it.

Opting for Loose Waves

Loose Waves are set to be going strong in 2014, and it’s an extremely casual hairstyle that includes tousled curls, soft waves, tight curls and essentially beach styled hair. Whether you have long hair or short hair the loose wave look is certainly something that can work for various individuals.

It is an extremely casual style and it may not be suited for the red carpet, but there are plenty of people who can make it work in a formal situation. If you’re hair is naturally curly it can feel weird to let it go and you may not be used to leaving your curls as they are, but there will be plenty of people letting their loose curls go this year and you could be one of them.

This look works especially well if you have highlights in your hair, while Fern Cotton is an example of someone who can make the look work even with relatively short hair.
