Winter hair colours and treatment

It is true that we love our locks to be light and wavy on the beach in summer, and warmer and delicate during the winter.

Now with the winter months on its way and the sun not damaging our hair too much we can take the time to rejuvenate it and have a little makeover.  Follow these tips to help bring your hair back to life over the cold winter period.

Firstly, choosing a colour, takinhair-2g a dramatic change from bleach platinum blonde to Gothic Black is taking it a bit far, but adding warmer tones really makes a different to your appearance through those winter months. Finding a mixture of two warm colours makes a big difference and will help take the strain off maintaining that platinum blonde summer look and has the roots showing through every 4-6 weeks.

Conditioning your hair is very important. Finding the time to feed your hair back to life again is a must. Your hair over the summer has been dried out by the sun and stripped of its natural nutrients. Finding an overnight leave in condihairtioner is a great start. Applying oil to the ends of your hair before bed is an easy and convenient way to revitalise your hair without spending too much time on it. Finding an oil such as argon oil makes a massive improvement that you will be able to feel even after the first night of application.

Get it cut. Not just a trim as many of us opt for, but a new style, getting rid of those split ends and giving it that natural bounce back. Split ends only ruin your hair and getting them snipped off actually helps your hair to grow, it’s not just a myth.

Start giving your hair that well deserved make-over and bring it back to life with these simple but effective tips.

Men: A barber or a hairdresser

There are many successful barbershops in British towns, but there are also plenty of fantastic hairdressers too. Some men choose to go to a hairdressers whilst others will visit a barber, but what’s the difference? Well, a barber will specifically cut men’s hair yet hairdressers will cover male and female hair. You’re likely to find that a barber is more equipped and skilled at carrying out short cuts, fades and trims. They also have the skills to carry out work on beards, but hairdressers spend so much time working on women’s hair, they’re not necessarily the best equipped for cutting men’s hair. They are two completely different skills and though both will give you a haircut, they won’t give you the same type of haircut. Make sure you go to a barber if you’re a man who needs a short cut.

Why do I get dandruff?

Many people ask us why they get dandruff and it’s actually a good question. The fact is some people get it, some people do not so what is the contributing factor to dandruff? Well, it’s merely a case of having dry skin. If you have dry skin, you’re more likely to have dandruff. Winter cold air, combined with overheated rooms is a common cause of itchy, flaking skin. If you have small flakes of dandruff and these flakes are dry and not oily, then it’s highly likely your dandruff is caused by dry skin. This is why people with seborrheic dermatitis are very prone to dandruff. To combat this, start using an anti-dandruff shampoo. You don’t have to use it every day but using it several times a week will significantly reduce dandruff you have and will also prevent itchy scalp. Many big brands provide anti-dandruff versions of their shampoos and conditioners.

Visiting a new barber

It’s never nice to switch barbers, and whether you’re doing so because you’d like a different style or because you’ve moved location, it’s important to follow these tips:

Trial a few barbers

Every salon has a series of talented barbers but finding the right one can take time. Try each of them first and see which one cuts your hair the best then use them as your go to barber in the future.

Speak to them

Don’t shy away from them. Get to know them. You should ask questions and engage in conversation. If you become one of their favourites you may get a discount going forward.

Be honest

You need to be honest when they are cutting you hair. If they do something that isn’t quite to your liming, tell them. They can then change it and perfect it in the future so you always get the look you crave.

Nude Hair Colouring

There’s a lot of talk about warm and cool hair colours in the fashion world, but what’s the deal with the neutral ones, like nude hair. Well, nude coloured hair is becoming extremely popular and it’s mainly because it provides a balance between the two. With nude hair, there’s an even amount of warm and cool shades, which cancel each other out to create a neutral colour. Cara Delavigne parades nude hair on a daily basis, and it’s almost caramel in colour, not too warm yet not too cool. The great thing with this shade is that it can be very flattering on all skin tones, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re naturally pale or sun-kissed with an olive shine. We expect this colour to grow even more popular throughout the course of the year, and you’ll see more models walking down the catwalk with this stunning new look.
